Tiffany enters gubernatorial race

Posted

Congressman Tom Tiffany (R-Minocqua) has announced his candidacy for governor of Wisconsin.
Tiffany, who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives (representing the 7th Congressional District) in May 2020 following the resignation of Sean Duffy, announced his plans in a press release issued on Sept. 23.
Prior to his election to national office, Tiffany served in the State Assembly and State Senate for the 12th District. He also served as a town supervisor in the Oneida County town of Nokomis from 2009-2013 and was a member of the Oneida County Economic Development Corporation.
Prior to entering the political realm, Tiffany operated Wisconsin River Cruises and served as a dam tender. Earlier in his life, he managed a petroleum distribution company.
Tiffany is the third Republican to announce a run for the governor’s office. Businessman and former U.S. Navy SEAL Bill Berrien and Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann have already entered the ring. Several Democrats, including Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. state Sen. Kelda Roys and state Rep. Francesca Hong, have also declared their candidacy.
The seat is open following incumbent Democrat Tony Evers’ decision not to seek another term following 16 years in the statehouse.
The Republican and Democratic partisan primaries, where the candidates will be reduced to two, are scheduled for August 11, 2026. The general election will be held on Nov. 3, 2026.
