Second annual Memory Bowl to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Association

Posted

The Tess family is getting ready for the second annual Memory Bowl: 9-Pins for a Purpose on

Saturday, Oct. 24, at Nick’s Hodag Lanes in Rhinelander. According to a press release, the event is held in memory of Sharon Tess, who lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease in 2021.

The family started fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association in Sharon’s memory and has now raised more than $24,000. Last year’s first Memory Bowl raised $10,020, thanks to the support of local businesses, family, friends and community members.

This year, the family has set a goal of raising $20,000 at the Memory Bowl. All money raised from the event will go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Rhinelander.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received since we started doing this in Mom’s memory,” said the Tess family. “Last year’s Memory Bowl was more successful than we ever expected, and we’re hoping to make this year’s event even bigger.”

And you don’t have to be a bowler to take part.

The Memory Bowl is a 9-pin bowling event, but no bowling experience is needed. Come with family, bring some friends or put together a team with coworkers. The goal is to have a good time while raising money for a cause that has become very personal to the Tess family.

Along with bowling, the event will include basket raffles, a cash raffle, silent auction, door prizes and pin prizes.
