Rondele Ranch, the Northwoods business behind the annual Christmas Wonderland light show, has purchased Pinewood Golf Club in Harshaw and plans a renovation that includes a new event clubhouse, a course-wide irrigation system and golf simulators for winter play.
The company announced the purchase in a news release Monday, Oct. 26.
Construction on a new clubhouse is scheduled to start in spring 2027, according to the release. The building will overlook the first, ninth, 10th and 18th holes and Bearskin Creek and will hold up to 150 people for golf outings, banquets, weddings and other events. The current clubhouse will stay open until the new one is finished, the release states. The new clubhouse will include golf simulators, and the company plans to run winter leagues so members and the public can play during the offseason.
A new irrigation system covering fairways, tees, greens and roughs is set to be installed beginning in early spring 2027, with completion planned before July 1. Cart paths will also be improved, existing tee boxes upgraded and new tee boxes added where needed.
All 18 holes are expected to stay open throughout the 2027 season, the release states.
“We see tremendous potential at Pinewood, and we’re excited to help revitalize the course and create a place the community can enjoy for years to come,” Rondele Ranch owner Bob Chadwell said in the release.
Chadwell said the company views the course as another community gathering place, in addition to a golf facility, and intends to keep it accessible and affordable.
“We want Pinewood to be a place that brings people together, supports the surrounding community and remains a source of pride for the Northwoods,” he said.
Rondele Ranch’s Christmas Wonderland, located approximately 4 miles from Pinewood, features more than 1 million lights and helps raise money for local Boy Scout troops, high school sports teams, churches and other organizations, according to the company. Pinewood’s current staff will stay on. Kyle Christian, general manager and PGA professional, will continue to oversee golf operations, and Tyler Nehls will remain golf course superintendent.
