SDR Drama Department preparing for fall musical

Posted

The members of the School District of Rhinelander Drama Department are busying preparing for several performances of its fall musical “Oliver!” which is based on Charles Dickens’ classic 1838 novel Oliver Twist.
Performances are scheduled to take place Thursday through Saturday, November 20–22 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 23 at 1 p.m., at the John and Dori Brown Performing Arts Center at Rhinelander High School.
“Under the direction of Mrs. Kristin Higgins and Mr. Roddy MacMillan, more than 40 talented Rhinelander students will bring to life the story of young Oliver Twist — an orphan who escapes a harsh workhouse only to discover a world filled with both hardship and hope,” district officials said in a press release. “Set against the gritty yet heartwarming backdrop of 1830s Victorian London, Oliver! explores themes of poverty, perseverance, and the enduring quest for family and love.”
This family-friendly production promises energetic performances, lively choreography, and memorable songs that will delight audiences of all ages.
Admission is free, and doors open 30 minutes before show time. Concessions will be available, with all proceeds and donations supporting the School District of Rhinelander Drama Department.
