Maryan L. Ritchie

Our beloved mother was called to heaven on Saturday August 29th at the age of 92.

Maryan was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend and caregiver.

Maryan was born in Rhinelander WI on January 25, 1934, to William and Lillian Eternicka. She had a wonderful life filled with adventures with her mother and siblings traveling to different states. She returned to Rhinelander to start her life with her father. She met and married Paul Ritchie on April 26, 1952, and had four children.

Maryan had a passion for crocheting afghans, which she gave to family and special friends. She also enjoyed reading, bingo and cooking, especially spaghetti with neck bones. Her biggest gift was her caring and compassionate nature. She spent many years taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren great-great-grandchildren and special friend, Jerome Alsteens. She worked at several local companies. Woolworth, JC Penney, The State Theatre and Musson Brothers.

She is survived by her children Paula (Gene) Williams, David (Beth) Ritchie, Brenda (Charles) Klaver and Timothy (Lisa) Ritchie. Grandchildren: Trina Rosenow, Austin (Elena) Ritchie, Brieann (Jamie Hauser) Ritchie, Charles (Aubrey) Klaver, Heather (Brian) Woods, Paul Klaver. Nicholas (Krystal Schuirmann) Ritchie, Cody, Nathan and Summer Ritchie, Patrick (Jorden) Ritchie. 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great- grandchildren. Special friends Jerome Alsteens, Laurie Sandberg and Bradley Sandberg.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Ritchie and granddaughter Tawny Schleinz-Williams. Her parents and her sisters Theresa and Wilma, brothers Corkey, Joseph, Anthony, Carmen, Emery and Bevin.

We would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Rennes Health and Rehab as well as Aspirus Hospice for their care and compassion. They are truly wonderful people.

The visitation for Maryan will take place on Friday September 11, 2026, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home 24 E Davenport St, Rhinelander WI. The visitation is from 11:00 a.m., until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Dn. Ray Ambrosius will officiate.

Immediately following the service there will be a procession to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery for committal service.
