Local healthcare providers to host community vaccine discussion

The Oneida County Health Department will host a community conversation about vaccines on Oct. 8, featuring a panel of local healthcare professionals.
The event will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at Nicolet College Northwoods Center, 5364 College Drive. The discussion will focus on vaccine safety, effectiveness and community health topics.
Panelists will include Dr. Joel Furda, a retired cardiovascular internist; Dr. Chris Koeppl, a retired internal medicine physician and clinic and health department medical director; and Sara Baldwin, a pediatric nurse practitioner with Aspirus.
The panel will address vaccine safety and effectiveness for COVID-19 and flu shots, annual vaccination recommendations, pediatric vaccination for children 6 months and older, and adult vaccination, particularly for older adults and those with underlying health conditions.
Attendees can submit questions in advance at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QQZ2S97. The event will also be broadcast on Facebook Live for those unable to attend in person.
Flu and COVID-19 vaccines will be available on-site from 7 to 7:30 p.m. following the discussion.
