Artists invited to submit qualifications for mural project

Posted

The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking artists interested in creating a new public mural in downtown Rhinelander. According to a chamber press release, the project is part of a larger effort to add more public art and create experiences that make Rhinelander a great place to live, work, and visit.
“Public art helps tell the story of a community and creates experiences people remember,” said Lauren Sackett, CEO of the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce. “We’re excited to create a mural that reflects Rhinelander’s personality and gives people another reason to explore downtown.”
“The mural will be located on the southern exterior wall of 2 N. Brown Street in downtown Rhinelander,” the release states. “Artists are encouraged to consider interactive and photo-friendly elements, family-friendly themes, and creative approaches that contribute to community pride and visitor engagement.” Interested artists are invited to submit their qualifications through the online application form no later than July 5. Concept designs are not required at this stage. Applicants will be asked to provide information about their experience, portfolio, references, and interest in the project.
Additional project details and the online submission form can be found at www.RhinelanderChamber.com/public-art-initiatives/.
Questions regarding the project may be directed to Sackett at lauren@rhinelanderchamber.com.

The chamber is also looking for businesses, organizations, and property owners who may be interested in hosting public art projects in the future.
As part of ongoing efforts to bring more public art to Rhinelander, community partners are working to identify possible locations for murals, sculptures, artistic installations, and other public art projects. The goal of this effort is to better understand where public art opportunities may exist throughout the community and to support a long-term vision for expanding public art in Rhinelander, the release states.
“By identifying potential locations now, we can be better prepared to connect artists, funding opportunities, and community partners with projects that can make a meaningful impact,” Sackett noted.
Property owners and organizations interested in learning more or being considered for future public art opportunities are encouraged to complete a brief interest form. For more information and to complete the Public Art Site Interest Form, visit www.RhinelanderChamber.com/public-art-initiatives/.
