Construction to begin on Marshfield Clinic hospital

Marshfield Clinic Health System today announced construction will begin soon on a 72,000 square foot hospital attached to its existing clinic in Minocqua. The hospital will be an expansion of the current clinic. Oneida County officials approved a conditional use permit for the project in February 2018.
“We’re excited to take the next step in fulfilling our promise to the community by creating a modern, state-of-the-art facility that allows us to bring patients more accessible, high-quality services in the most efficient manner,” said Dr. William Melms, chief medical officer for Marshfield Clinic.
The new hospital will have 12 private patient rooms, a birthing center with four private patient rooms for labor and delivery, a C-Section room along with two flexible/postpartum private patient rooms, a full surgical suite, including four operating rooms and three procedure rooms. It will have an emergency department, imaging and lab space, radiology, pharmacy and other services.
Hospital officials are touting the installation of a DaVinci robot, which allows a surgeon to use precise imaging and placement tools to operate without opening a large area in the patient’s abdomen during complex surgery. One of the procedure rooms will be a bronchoscopy room, used for examining a patient’s airway through a bronchoscope.
