Obituary: Arlene “Mike” Sheridan
Arlene “Mike” Sheridan, age 83, of Rhinelander, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital.
Mike was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., the only child of Karl and Irene (Green) Michael. She was married to Thomas Sheridan in April 1957; together, they raised three children. A woman of many skills, gifts and interests, Mike was probably best known for her needlework talents. In the last dozen years, she created more than 500 lap quilts that were sent overseas by the Rhinelander Military Support Group for wounded service members. Mike was also proficient at knitting, crocheting and cross stitching, as well as sewing. She enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching the birds, baking, cooking and reading. In her pre-Wisconsin life, she served as a cupcake-baking room mother, Cub Scout leader, Brownie leader and Girl Scout leader, as well as holding officer positions for Elburn’s Legion Auxiliary, Women’s Club and library board.
Mike is survived by her son, Patrick (Becky) Sheridan, of Saegertown, Pa.; daughter, Kate (Randy) Larch, of Rhinelander; and is further survived by her grandson, Sean Sheridan; a great-grandson, Dean Sheridan; and a small circle of friends. Mike is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Irene Michael; husband, Tom Sheridan; and daughter, Monica Sheridan.
In accordance to Arlene “Mike” Sheridan’s wishes, her life will be celebrated privately.
The family would like to thank many, many medical professionals for helping Mike through years of declining health, especially, Dr. Gabert and his team at Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua, the care teams at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital (Infusion Center, ER, Special Care, ICU, Home Health, Chaplain John, and NP Diane T.), and the Rhinelander and Pelican Township Ambulance Crews. They are also grateful for the personalized care and attention she received at Country Terrace in Rhinelander where she resided for the last 14 months.
