Obituary: Erwin “Erv” Polzin
Erwin “Erv” R. Polzin, age 103 of Rhinelander, died Sunday, April 22, 2018. He was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Omro to Gustav and Katharine (Bremer) Polzin.
He joined the Wisconsin National Guard in 1934, worked in a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, and enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WW II and served as a Tech Sgt. with the 432nd Fighter Squadron 475th Fighter Group in the Pacific Theater of operations.
Erv is survived by his children, Rita Webster, Carol (Miles) Holets, Nancy (Ned) Kleinke, and Dave (Connie Kadubek) Polzin; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Bruce) Collins; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Lambert.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; son, Robert; sister Clara Orwiler; brother, Carl; and grandchildren, Michael Holets and Katie and Benjamin Klienke.
The funeral service for Erv will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Krahn officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, at the Carlson Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Interment will follow in Northland Memorial Park.
