RHS track and field competes at Northland Pines

Rhinelander High School varsity boys track team placed fifth out of eight teams at Thursday’s indoor meet at Northland Pines Fieldhouse, picking up 68 1/2 points. Northland Pines won the meet with 153 points.
The Hodags’ Josh Francisco set a personal record to claim a first place finish in the 55 meter dash. Other top finishers include Petyon Ericks, third in the triple jump with a jump of 40 feet 2.50 inches; Alex Monk placed fourth and fifth in the 200 meter and 55 meter hurdles; AJ Kopplin cleared 5 feet 6 inches in the high jump; Drake Martin jumped 18 feet 7.50 inches to take fifth place in the long jump.
The girls varsity placed seventh out of eight teams, garnering 22 1/2 points. Lakeland took home place first place honors with a score of 170 points. Top finishers for the Hodags include Ellen Padgett, sixth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 8.07 seconds; Lexie Rick throwing the shot 32 feet 8 inches for a fourth place finish; Rebecca Lawrence tied for third place in the high jump, clearing 4 feet 10 inches.
