Reader endorses Screnock for Justice
Editor,
Did you know that there is a state-wide spring primary vote for the Wisconsin Supreme Court on Tuesday, Feb. 20? If you were unaware of this vote, you are not alone. Spring elections receive very little publicity. Historically, the spring elections have had dismal voter turnout. Let’s change the tide and have every registered voter (you may register the same day as the election) cast their vote.
The integrity of our Wisconsin Supreme Court is critical to all residents of Wisconsin. You will find three candidates on your ballot.
Judge Michael Screnock is the only candidate who fully understands that it is the Wisconsin Legislature that makes laws. It is the court’s role to uphold the rule of law. The court does not legislate!
I endorse Judge Michael Screnock because he has real life experience. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and an MBA in urban economic development. Michael Screnock has always sought ways to use his talents to serve the public.
He ran a community development program, served as a city building inspector, a financial director and a city administrator.
After twelve years serving in local governments, Michael returned to UW-Madison and earned his Juris Doctor degree.
I have listed these job experiences to demonstrate that Michael Screnock has real life experiences as a working man, not locked away in an ivory tower removed from reality.
As a lawyer, he joined a law firm and worked on complex cases including defending Act 10 and numerous cases that went before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
In 2015 Judge Screnock was appointed by Governor Walker to a seat on the Sauk County Circuit Court. In 2016 he ran successfully to retain his seat. He hears all types of cases. I want our next Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice to decide cases by upholding the law, on merit and the constitution, not on FEELINGS!
Vote for Judge Michael Screnock on Tuesday, Feb. 20, or by absentee ballot.
