BOYS BASKETBALL: Hodags hold off Thunderbirds, 53-51

After trailing by a point at halftime Friday night, the Rhinelander High School varsity boys basketball team was able to remain undefeated in the Great Northern Conference with a 53-51 league victory at Lakeland Union High School.
The Hodags were led by Michigan Tech recruit Owen White, who recorded a double-double with 27 points, which included four 3-pointers, and 11 rebounds. Junior Howard and Brad Comer also scored in double figures with 10 points apiece.
RHS shot 22-58 (37.9 percent) from the field overall, 6-26 (23.1 percent) from 3-point range and 3-12 (25 percent) from the free-throw line.
The Hodags improved their season record to 7-0 in the GNC and 13-1 overall going into Tuesday’s non-conference home game against Wausau East. RHS also hosts its next league game this Friday against Northland Pines.
