BOYS SOCCER: Hodags split games at Delavan-Darien tourney

The Rhinelander High School varsity boys soccer team did all the scoring and then couldn’t score a goal Saturday when the Hodags split two games at a tournament hosted by Delavan-Darien.
RHS shut out Racine Case, 3-0.
The Hodags scored twice in the first half with a goal by Jonus Sabani assisted by Matthew Von Oepen 2:18 into the game and Von Oepen getting the goal with an assist from Sabani at 10:35.
RHS’s final goal came 7:39 into the second half when Von Oepen scored again assisted by Alec Lowry.
The Hodags had a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal with Josh Randolph picking up the shutout win in net.
DELAVAN-DARIEN 7, HODAGS 0
RHS could only muster four shots with three of those on goal when they Hodags were shut out in the second game by Delavan-Darien, 7-0.
Delavan-Darien, which scored four times before halftime, ended up with 34 shots and 25 of those on goal with Randolph making 18 saves for the game.
The Hodags’ season record stands at 5-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Great Northern Conference going into Thursday’s conference game at Mosinee.
