OBITUARY: Carla E. Dall
Carla E. Dall, age 77 of Rhinelander, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at her home and in the company of her family. She was born January 21, 1939, in Burnside, Ill., to Walter and Ruth (Gleason) Marsden.
In the early 1950’s, Carla moved with her family to Withee, where they farmed. She attended Owen High School graduating in 1956. While in high school, she would assist her father with custom hay baling for area farmers by operating the baler. Also, while in high school, Carla met her future husband, Gerald “Jerry” Dall. They were married in June 1960 and together raised their family of three wonderful children, Scott, Laura and Julie.
Following graduation, Carla was employed for a short time with Thorp Finance Corp. and then moved to Milwaukee where she was employed at Cutler-Hammer Corp. and then Briggs and Stratton Co. In 1965, Carla moved to Rhinelander following Jerry’s job transfer and she remained a stay-at-home mother until the children were all in school. She then went to work part-time at Sherwin Williams Paint Store and later joined J.C. Penny Co. in the catalog department where she worked for 17 years until her retirement in 1995.
Family was very important to Carla and she enjoyed any and all time spent with them no matter what the occasion. She will be fondly remembered for always having a smile on her face and for the fact that you always knew where she was by her distinctive laugh.
Carla is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry Dall of Rhinelander; her children, Scott (Jackie) Dall, Laura (William) Horack and Julie (Steve) Newbold, all of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Jessica Bills, Aaron Horack, and Ashley Holstein; four great-grandchildren, Jozlyn, Bentley, Violet and Lillian; and three sisters, Della (Ron) Erickson of Woodruff, June (Frank) Singery of Rockton, Ill., and Nora (William) Shaline of Roscoe, Ill. She is further survived by nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.
