OBITUARY: Gladys Ann Gritzmacher
Gladys Ann Gritzmacher, age 71 of Rhinelander, died Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Friendly Village. She was born March 11, 1945, in Milwaukee to Stephen and Dorothy (Garrow) Novak.
Gladys married Helmuth “Butch” Gritzmacher January 25, 1963, and together they raised their family of three children. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and enjoyed camping trips with Butch. She also loved her country music and shaking her “bootie” as the CNAs at the Village referred to her style. Gladys was a faithful member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and was a dedicated volunteer at church functions until Alzheimer’s disease took over her life. Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother.
Gladys is survived by her children, Philip (Dorothy) Gritzmacher, Rena (Scott) Kaiser and Dorothy (Joregae) Sanchez; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Carol) Novak, Stephen Novak, and Albert Novak; and two sisters, Frances Eades and Elizabeth Bartholomew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Butch, and in-laws.
The funeral service for Gladys will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) with Rev. Richard Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery.
