OBITUARY: William “Zell” Zellinger
William Isadore “Zell” Zellinger , age 59, of Rhinelander, died peacefully on May 23, 2016, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1956 in Rhinelander to Robert and Terese (Tuhalski) Zellinger. Bill attended schools in Rhinelander graduating from the Rhinelander High School in 1974. After his schooling he was employed by Concrete Products for a short while before going to work for the City of Rhinelander. He was a heavy equipment operator for the city for over 32 years, retiring in 2012.
In his time off he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and anything outdoors. He loved all sports, especially baseball and softball. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan; Packers, Badgers, Brewers and the Bucks.
Later in life he discovered airplanes and Las Vegas. That new interest led him to the love of his life and his fiancée Teresa Griffin. She was everything to Bill and that then led to over twenty trips to Vegas in a short period of time.
Bill is survived by his fiancée Teresa Griffin; his sister Jill (Larry) Petersen of Rhinelander; his brothers James Zellinger of La Crosse and Michael (Linda) Zellinger of Three Lakes; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be missed by his many friends who knew him to be a generous, loyal and helpful friend.
A memorial service for Bill is tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 3 at 2 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home. Visiting hours are tentatively set for Friday, June 3 from 12- 2 p.m., also at the Carlson Funeral Home. You may leave your private condolences for the Zellinger family atwww.carslonfh.com.
