For the Star Journal
The annual basketball game featuring RHS staff and varsity players takes place tomorrow, Mar. 29 at the Jim Miazga Community Gym. The event, sponsored by the Key Club will run differently than it has been in the past.
The evening will consist of six “old fashioned” games, six minutes each:
- 2 sessions for the girls varsity vs. women staff
- 2 sessions for boys varsity vs. men staff
- 2 sessions for both boys and girls varsity and men and women staff
Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students. There will also be a 50/50 raffle at the event.
Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through service to others through volunteering in the community and at school sponsored events. It is the youth group for Kiwanis International. Key Club members elect their own officers, attend monthly meetings and help organize service projects and fundraising projects. In addition, various student members participate in monthly luncheon meetings with Kiwanis members.
A few of the community groups that Key Club partners with include the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods, the YMCA, Rouman Cinema, Red Cross, and the Rhinelander Public Library. Key Club participates in the Homecoming Parade and hosted the “Smash the Red Robins” car smash, fundraising for NATH and Tri County Council, blood donation drives and the student vs. staff basketball game.
