It’s time for Winter Escapes
Tickets are now on sale for the Rhinelander Kiwanis Club’s 29th annual Winter Escapes Extravaganza. The event, which has raised over $325,000 for children and family-oriented projects in the Rhinelander community, will take place Saturday, March 5 at the Northwoods Banquet Center, 1540 Pueblo Dr., Rhinelander, beginning at 6 p.m. Ticket prices are $40. Only 500 tickets will be sold for the event. Tickets are available from any Kiwanian or by calling 715-367-3715.
Again this year, Dave Havel will be the master of ceremonies. All tickets will be drawn during the evening with the last ticket drawn winning the grand prize of $2,000 cash and the second to last ticket winning $1,000. Ten tickets drawn at random throughout the evening will win $100. Winners need not be present to win. Additionally, area merchants will donate over 100 merchandise items or gift certificates, which will be given as prizes to ticket holders. Live auctions and cash raffles will be part of the fun. Free beer and sodas will be served throughout the evening as well as free hot sandwiches at 7:30 p.m.
Profits from this year’s Winter Escapes will be used to construct an indoor/outdoor children’s art education classroom at ArtStart in Rhinelander.
Past projects funded with money raised through Winter Escapes include new environmentally safe ground cover for the children’s play areas at Hodag Park, the greenhouse at the Rhinelander Food Pantry, purchase and installation of Pioneer Park playground equipment, construction of the lighted outdoor basketball court at Central School, the hiking trail at the YMCA and remodeling of the handicap training kitchen at Headwaters Inc.
