Multiple car accidents in first snow

High winds, blowing snow and slippery roads combined Thursday afternoon to make for a busy afternoon for area law enforcement and rescue workers.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of car accidents. There were two reported rollover accidents between 3 and 3:15 p.m. The first was a one vehicle rollover on Highway 17 North in Pine Lake. Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies, Oneida County EMS, Pine Lake Fire Department, and Pine Lake First Responders assisted in this accident. The lone person in the vehicle was transported to the hospital due to possible injuries.
At 3:15 p.m., another rollover accident was reported on Highway 51 in the town of Hazelhurst. Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies, Oneida County EMS and Hazelhurst Fire Department responded to this accident. The two persons in this vehicle were medically cleared and not transported.
A car versus tree accident was reported at 7:15 p.m. on County Highway G in the town of Enterprise. Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies, Oneida County EMS, and Fire District Alpha responded to this accident. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital due to possible injuries.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to be alert for changing road conditions as winter weather begins. Temperatures can change rapidly and cause road conditions to become slippery.
