Obituary: Anne Meyer
(Eleanor) Anne Meyer, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on November 6, 2015. She was born November 23, 1943 in Olney, Illinois to Harry and Marion (Evans) Kribbs. Anne graduated from Carthage College in June of 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in sociology. Anne then moved to Rhinelander, the day after graduation, to pursue her career in social work. She was employed by the department of public welfare working as a social worker in adoptions and foster care for about a year. She was then hired by the Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole agent where she worked for 32 years retiring from the Department of Corrections as Wausau Corrections Supervisor of Probation and Parole in 1999. During her social work career she was part of creating The Lakeland Council, a program for AODA treatment, and then Northwoods Council, an AODA program for juveniles. She also initiated and gave workshops for The Second Chance Program for shoplifters who were first time offenders. Anne was preceded in death by the love of her life Michael A. Meyer. They met October 1965 and were married on January 29,1966. They shared 47 years of love. Anne is survived by her son Dan (Kelly) Meyer and daughter Beth (Shannon Hauser) Meyer, six grandchildren Samantha Olson, DeMara Meyer, BreAnna Leitl, Andrew Kurth, Madison Meyer, and Joyce Hauser, two sisters Cindy (Ron) Combs and Amy (Gary) Packer, three sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, and many great friends. Anne was involved in several volunteer groups in the community including Meals on Wheels, The Food Pantry, NATH, Philanthropic Educational Organization, Jaycees, Luther League, Warm for the Winter, Nicolet College Learning in Retirement and many more. Anne was a caring and generous person who dedicated most of her time to helping others. In her spare time Anne had several hobbies including crafting, Nicolet Choraliers, sewing, beading, reading and book clubs, playing cards and card groups, traveling the world, and Life After Work Group. She will be missed by many. A visitation for Anne will be held on Friday, November 13th, 2015 from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home. At 3 p.m., family and friends will go in procession from the Carlson Funeral Home to the Newbold Cemetery where graveside services will be held. The Reverend Kari Vadis will officiate.
