Hodags vs. the World gets support from local union
A group of fourteen Rhinelander girls and their coaches are planning to take on the world this summer and are fundraising to make it happen. The Hodags vs. the World soccer team is heading to England of August to play soccer. During a recent fundraising event on a Wisconsin River Cruise, United Steel Workers Local-15 presented the team with a $500 check.
Coaches Kim and Chris Frederickson say that from the first year of playing together the girls have learned that being part of a soccer team is not just about being the best soccer player and soccer team possible, and the players are learning to adopt a growth mindset. They have raised over $25,000 so far.
“It’s been a fun journey raising the funds and watching the girls’ characters develop. We look forward to establishing relationships and experiencing the culture overseas,” said coach Kim Frederickson. “We are very grateful to everyone in the community who has supported us. We feel loved!”
