Chicago?s Old Town School of Folk Music comes to Minocqua
Jerry and Tara Woolpy will host Old Town School of Folk Music instructor and performer Mark Dvorak for two days of guitar workshops, private lessons and a concert sponsored by Bats in the Boathouse Press. The event will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 and 31 at 8395 Woolpy Drive on Lake Kawaguesaga.
Dvorak will present “Beginning Guitar” Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. From 4 to 6 p.m., he will present “Six Strings and Ten Fingers,” an exploration into the acoustic guitar.
On Sunday at 3 p.m., he will perform a concert on the dock of the Woolpy’s historic boat house on Lake Kawaguesaga. He will also be available for private instruction throughout the weekend.
Since 1986, Dvorak has been a member of the faculty at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music.
Registration for either workshop is $25 per adult. The rate for a private lesson is $35 for a 50-minute session. The concert is offered at a free will donation. RSVP to [email protected] to reserve a seat at a workshop, the Sunday concert or a private session.
