Downtown Rhinelander business supports Rhinelander Area Food Pantry
In April, Diane’s Frame Shoppe began its 2014 Artist of the Month gallery exhibit series by hosting Barb Whenal from Lake Tomahawk.
Barb, in addition to being a painter, is a metalsmith who works primarily with copper. On Saturday, April 12 store owner, Diane Dodge, invited patrons to a reception where they could meet the artist and see live metalsmithing demonstrations. More than 50 individuals stopped in to see Barb create spoons, bowls and more.
In addition to the artistic aspect surrounding the day, Diane and Barb also made an appeal to all visitors to bring a donation for the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry for which they could receive a discount on Barb’s artwork.
This appeal was quite successful because not only did they collect several bags of non-perishable food items, but they also collected more than $200 in monetary contributions.
“I want to personally thank all those individuals, especially Diane, who helped make my art exhibition a complete success,” Barb said. “Not only by supporting me and my artwork but also by contributing to a cause which I strongly support.”
