Senoir Center opens registration for trip to see Fiddler on the Roof
The Oneida County Senior Center trip to see Fiddler on the Roof at the Fireside Dinner Theater in Ft. Atkinson is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16.
The group will be departing the center Thursday, May 15 at 7 a.m., stopping in Antigo at Copps for a pick-up at 7:50 a.m. and heading around the Horicon Marsh to view the nesting activity of the marsh’s many inhabitants before stopping at the J.C. Factory outlet in Johnson Creek for some shopping. The group will then be heading to the Comfort Suites to get ready for the evening buffet and performance at the Fireside Dinner Theatre.
On Friday, participants will tour Ten Chimneys; the estate of actors Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. A catered lunch will be offered.
The trip will then visit Greendale where a step-on tour guide will reveal the town’s history. This planned community is one of only three “Greenbelt Communities” in the United States built by the Franklin Roosevelt Administration in 1936. The goal was to provide much needed jobs and better housing for families. This village was designed to look like an English Garden Village and still resembles New England’s Williamsburg.
After the tour, the group will stop in the visitor center birthplace of Reiman Publications–publisher of Taste of Home and 12 other Greendale based magazines. We will take in a cooking demonstration and have some time to browse the discounted cookbooks, and cooking gadgets before heading to the Golden Corral in Plover (included) and then home.
The cost for this getaway is $245 per person (double occupancy) and space is limited. A $50 deposit will hold a space (deposit must be received within 10 days of making reservation) and several payments can be made on the balance. Complete trip itineraries, registration forms and trip policies are on the trip board in the lobby of the Senior Center (in the hallway by the restrooms), or can be mailed.
