Volunteers of Ministry Saint Mary?s Hospital donation to SMH Foundation
The Volunteers of Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital, through their fund-raising efforts, recently donated $20,000 to the Saint Mary’s Hospital (SMH) Foundation.
Volunteers provide many services at the Rhinelander medical campus and throughout the community. They operate the hospital’s gift shop and conduct many other fundraisers during the year. All profits support health and wellness programs, and projects in Rhinelander.
This past year, volunteers’ donations were utilized to purchase a new paging system for the Ministry Saint Mary’s surgery waiting area, assisted with funding upgrades in the birthing center to help enhance the patient experience, and provided six scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to students pursuing a career in a healthcare. In 2013, the Volunteers of Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital provided 16,478 hours of service.
“Our volunteers put in a tremendous amount of time and effort to improve healthcare at our local facility,” Ryan Hetland, vice-chair of the SMH Foundation, said. “We truly appreciate their effort and financial contribution.”
“Every hour that our volunteers donate leads to improvements in our medical services at Ministry Saint Mary’s,” Dorothy Weiler, president, Volunteers of Ministry Saint Mary’s, said. “Our hard working Volunteers provided over 16,000 hours of service in 2013, and this contribution to the Saint Mary’s Foundation shows we can make a positive impact on local healthcare.”
