Wisconsin River users should exercise caution during spring?s high river flow
Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), which operates dams on the Wisconsin River between Eagle River and Wausau, reminds everyone that as winter comes to an end and spring approaches with warmer weather, river flows can increase significantly. The increased flow can make activities on the flowages and rivers more dangerous during this time of year.
During spring thaw when the ground is still frozen and vegetation is dormant, warmer weather accompanied by rainfall, may result in significant runoff leading to increased river flows. Residents, business owners and sport enthusiasts around the Wisconsin River should be aware of forecasted weather and current river conditions.
Current river flow and reservoir elevations can be found on the WPS Web site.
