Rhinelander’s Benoy competes at state
Russell Benoy competed in the State Swim Meet March 1 and 2 in Madison.
In order to qualify for the state meet, swimmers need to meet or exceed certain times in individual events throughout the season while being members of USA Swimming.
During the weekend meet, Russell swam in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 36.57 seconds earning a 22nd place finish; the 100-yard individual medley in 1:14.27 for a 41st place finish; and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:21.41 for a 20th place finish.
Russell also teamed up with other members of the Northern Lakes Aquatic Club (NLAC) for three relay events. The young men placed eighth overall in the 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley and 200-yard medley relays.
