Pelican School closed at 10 a.m. due to water pump failure
Administrators in the Rhinelander School District and at Pelican School have decided to close the building at 10 a.m. due to the water supply pump malfunctioning.
The malfunctioning pump was discovered when staff arrived at school and it was anticipated that this would be a quick fix. So the district brought in provisions of water and hand sanitizers thinking it was only going to be temporary.
Upon further inspection the repairs will take longer than anticipated. The district consulted with the Oneida County Health Department and a decision was made due to health and safety reasons to the close for the remainder of the day beginning at 10 a.m.
Parents will be responsible for picking their students up from school. The district anticipates the school will be open tomorrow.
