Viewpoint: New headlights on road to bright
Editor:
Like so many of us, we probably own a car as well as a pickup. The growing trend over the last five years or so, is the new headlights that are legal and fog lights. The new headlights shine intense enough to cast a wider and long beam on the road. Thirty years ago, those old high beams are less powerful than the current low beams on most vehicles. However, many new cars as well as aftermarket products legally have “fog” lights. Many drivers leave these fog lights on, even if it is not foggy. Cool-I say not.
Most of these current products are as powerful as a regular set of lights, so the on-coming driver has to tolerate (if not blinded) this because these fog light drivers truly don’t care. America was based on competitiveness. I call it “me first mentality.”
How come the DOT and traffic patrol will crack down on illegal lane changes, turn signals, speeding. erratic driving, but won’t dish out citations for blinding other drivers? Shouldn’t we all drive safely?
