Rhinelander skaters take gold at the US Figure Skating Wisconsin Basic Skills Series event
Gabriella Scholtes and Joyce Hauser, members of the Rhinelander Figure Skating club and students at Central School, took home first place medals for the 2013 US Figure Skating Wisconsin Basic Skills Series. The events have 14 competitions located throughout the state, including the Hodag Skate Classic which is held every Spring at the Rhinelander Ice Arena. The girls have skated in rinks as far away as Beaver Dam, Madison and Milwaukee, with all locations in between.
The Figure Skating Council of Wisconsin is an Interclub Council for Figure Skating Clubs within the State of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Basic Skills Series began in 2009 and has grown to 14 competitions and over 525 participating skaters.
Hauser competed in 9 out of 14 competitions and earned a total of 97 points. Scholtes competed in 10 out of 14 competitions and earned a total of 102 points.
