Ministry Sacred Heart Community Health and Wellness Fair
The Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation, in cooperation with Ministry Medical Group in Tomahawk, Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital and Ministry Health Care, will host its 17th annual Community Health and Wellness Fair with free health screenings for community members Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. The hospital is located at 401 West Mohawk Drive in Tomahawk.
The Health Fair will feature free clinical screenings and information booths. Health screenings will include non-fasting cholesterol and diabetes screening, PSA prostate screening, blood pressure, balance, hearing (call for appointment), breast exams, depression/anxiety screen, vision and body mass index (BMI). Providers recommend fasting for a period of at least 12 hours before having a cholesterol or diabetes screen. Cholesterol patients must be 18 years of age and older. PSA prostate screens are for men 50+ or 40+ years of age with a family history of prostate cancer. A limited number of hearing screens will be offered and those planning to attend may pre-register for the hearing screen by calling 715-453-7770.
“Many times, our free health screenings have identified serious health concerns with our community members that otherwise would have gone undetected,” said Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation Director Jesse Bolder. “We are proud to provide the opportunity for our friends and neighbors in the Tomahawk area to access these services.”
Flu and tetanus vaccinations will be provided by the Lincoln County Health Department. Flu shots are $30 for adults, while supplies last. The Health Department is unable to bill private insurance but can bill traditional Medicare, Advocare and Railroad Retirement. Those planning to attend must bring their insurance card. Tetanus shots will be available at a $5 charge that is not billable to insurance.
The Community Blood Center will host a blood drive during the Health and Wellness Fair and donations for the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry will be collected. With the exception of the hearing screenings, appointments are not necessary and all other screens are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information or to schedule a hearing screen, call 715-453-7770.
