Presentation on attracting and photographing birds
The Nicolet Bird Club of Three Lakes will offer a free presentation to the general public.
Joel Heiland, a long-time resident of the Northwoods and member of the Nicolet Bird Club, has developed a talent for attracting and photographing a wide variety of birds. He is known especially for the families of pileated woodpeckers that have chosen his property as a home for raising their young.
Heiland will present video clips and photos of the birds he attracts to his feeders, including views of parents feeding their young. He will also share his secrets for developing bird-friendly habitat and effective feeding stations in yards and tips for taking great birding photos, and he will discuss his list of the most interesting books on nature, wildlife and birds that others may want to explore.
Heiland will give his presentation Monday, Sept. 16, starting at 6 p.m. in the lower level of the Demmer Memorial Library, 6961 E. School St., Three Lakes. For more information, contact Bill at 715-891-5084 or Mike at 715-546-3059.
