Unplug after school with Fit and Fun at the YMCA of the Northwoods
Want to make sure your child is doing something fun and active after sitting still all day at school? The YMCA of the Northwoods is starting a new afterschool program called Fit and Fun Afterschool.
The foundation of the program offered will be focusing on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
“This program will help take kids down a healthy path and turn them into the Y generation, by working together in groups, learning about healthy lifestyle choices, and being able to express themselves through varying activities,” School Age Director Sarah Thomaschefsky said.
The students will be bussed to the Y from their school where they will receive a healthy and nutritious snack. After snack the students will participate in fun filled afternoons of Y organized activities.
There will be organized fitness classes through they Y, starting with Swimming on Mondays and Power Beats on Thursdays.
Arts and crafts will be offered on Tuesdays. There will be organized team games and activities that take place in the gym and outdoors on Wednesdays.
Fun Fridays will be studio and Karate day.
There is a weekly fee of $50 dollars which includes snack and all of the Y activities.
The program runs until 5:30 p.m. and is open to any student in kindergarten through 5th grade.
