World Book Night reaches the Northwoods
Twenty junior high students from Three Lakes received a copy of The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan on April 23 during World Book Night. This event coincides with William Shakespeare’s birthday and is celebrated around the world.
More than 25,000 book givers chose a title from among 20 books that were donated by publishers and book sellers. The book givers received 20 copies of their chosen book and sought creative ways to give the books away.
Laura Wipperman, Three Lakes librarian, and Teresa Cleary, library paraprofessional, attended the junior high sporting events on the night of April 23 and presented 20 students with a book.
World Book Night exists to foster the love of reading by putting good books into the hands of potential readers. Anyone interested in being a book giver next year may log on to worldbooknight.org for more information.
