Results of SPASH tennis invitational
The Hodags traveled to Stevens Point Saturday, April 20, to compete in the SPASH Tennis Invitational at Stevens Point Area Senior High School. The Hodags finished 6th out of 8 at the SPASH invitational. SPASH took 1st place.
“In one way, we were happy to be outside, given when we left Saturday morning it was 18 degrees. The match identified many things we have to work on,” Coach Heideman commented.
Hodags were led by Sam O’melia with two wins and one loss on the day. “Sam moved well on the court and for just going outside, kept his errors to a minimum,” Heideman said. “Kyle Thornton had a 4th place finish, 1-2 for the day. Kyle got a strong feel of what it takes to win four singles. He got a lot of balls back in three long matches. Lou and Trent got a good feel for #1 doubles. I especially like how they placed their three-set tie-breaker in the final match of the day. They hit some crucial shots.”
