Obituary: DeWaine “Butch” Mattek
DeWaine “Butch” Mattek, 72, of the Town of Sugar Camp, died April 14, 2013, in Rhinelander. He was born June 26, 1940, in Monico to Charles and Evelyn(Carson)Mattek. He is survived by two sons, DeWaine “Butch” Mattek Jr. of Rhinelander and Michael Mattek of West Bend; sisters-in- law Shirley “Punky”(Leroy Peterson, Yvonne “Bunnie” (Gil) Daugherty and Marti (Mat Hegy) Smith; brothers-in-law Donald “Sonny” (Rosemary) Smith, Louis (Margo) Smith, Charlie (Kathy) Smith, Bill (Julie) Smith and Doug “Pinky”(Pam) Smith; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; his parents; and a sister, Mary. Mr. Mattek was with American Family Insurance for a little over 37 years until his recent retirement. He was a scout master of Troop 568, which started opportunities for kids in Sugar Camp. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at Carlson Funeral Home with Deacon Al Goodrich officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, and from 10 a.m. until prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Town of Sugar Camp Cemetery.
