Informational meeting Jan. 22 for Walk MS Rhinelander
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Wisconsin Chapter is looking for volunteers to join the planning committees for this year’s Walk MS Rhinelander, which will be held Saturday, May 11, at Rhinelander High School. An informational meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the Oneida County Department on Aging building, 100 W. Keenan St., Rhinelander.
Those who cannot attend but are interested in joining are asked to contact Janet Marie Carlstedt at (715) 545-2245 or Sue Hawkins at (715) 612-7555.
Walk MS raises money and awareness on behalf of those living with multiple sclerosis. This year marks the first Rhinelander MS walk, one of 18 walks that will be held in Wisconsin. Together, the walks make up the largest fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Wisconsin Chapter. Last year the walks generated nearly $1.5 million to fund research, programs and services, benefiting the more than 10,000 people in Wisconsin diagnosed with MS.
Walk MS is a volunteer-driven event. The walks are held in Wisconsin each April and May. Each location features handicapped-accessible routes, rest stops, snacks, first aid and more.
