RHS and NCSS present Cinderella
The Rhinelander High School/Northwoods Community Secondary School drama department will present their fall production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 at the RHS auditorium.
Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella is the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her fairy godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits.
Director Kristin Larsen hopes the community will come out and enjoy the production. “We’ve all worked very hard to create a great show, with an awesome set and costumes, and fantastic acting, singing and dancing.”
Performance dates for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella will be Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30, and Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee Dec. 2 at 1 p.m., all at the Rhinelander High School auditorium. General admission tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
