Julie Olson, FNP, joins Ministry Medical Group
Julie Olson, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), has joined Ministry Medical Group (MMG) at the Rhinelander Riverside clinic, 1020 Kabel Ave. Although she is based in Rhinelander, in her role as a Primary Care Float NP for the Northern Region, Olson will be providing care to MMG clinics in Crandon, Laona, Eagle River, Tomahawk and Woodruff.
A nurse practitioner provides high-quality primary, acute and specialty health care services similar to those of a physician. Nurse practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses with advanced education (most have master’s degrees) and advanced clinical training. Along with clinical services, NPs focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and health education and counseling, and guiding patients to make smarter health and lifestyle choices. Among their many services, NPs can order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-ray. They can diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and injuries. They can prescribe medications and other treatments.
Prior to joining Family Practice at MMG, Olson provided care for the previous 15 years as a Registered Nurse at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. Olson has a special interest in providing medical care for all ages, including patients with a variety of acute and chronic illnesses. She completed her master’s in nursing through Concordia University, Mequon.
When she is not caring for patients, the Tomahawk native enjoys reading, camping, spending time outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.
