Deadline extension for 2013 Wisconsin Women’s Policy Institute applications
The Wisconsin Women’s Network (WWN) has announced that the deadline for applications to the 2013 Wisconsin Women’s Policy Institute has been extended to Monday, Oct. 29.
WWN seeks to recruit Fellows for the non-partisan 2013 Wisconsin Women’s Policy Institute’s training program, to be held in Madison. In 2013, the Wisconsin Women’s Policy Institute will focus on issues concerning the health and well-being of Wisconsin seniors. The goals of the institute are to: increase the number of female community leaders throughout the state who are actively involved in shaping and implementing public policies that affect the health and well-being of seniors; help participants develop public policy advocacy skills; provide participants with knowledge and information about Wisconsin’s policy landscape including legislative and administrative policy processes; help participants overcome perceived barriers and increase their confidence in understanding and taking part in the public policy process; and to help build the capacity of participants and their organizations to do ongoing advocacy and policy-related work.
Training will take place over the course of four months, beginning in February 2013. Training includes classroom instruction and experiential learning. Participants will learn the ins and outs of the legislative process, meet the important players, witness government in action and learn how to shepherd their own policy solutions through this process. Participants from non-profit and community organizations who want to increase their capacity for advocacy are strongly encouraged to apply. Scholarships to defer the costs of travel, accommodations, meals, etc. are available.
To receive application materials or to learn more about the Institute, contact Emily Winecke at (608) 255-9809 or [email protected], or visit the http://wiwomensnetwork.org/issues/wwpi. All completed application materials must be received by Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, in the Wisconsin Women’s Network offices at 612 W. Main St., Suite 200, Madison, WI 53703 or via email at [email protected].
