Obituary: Marie Wendt
Marie Wendt, 95, of Rhinelander, passed away on Sept. 2, 2012, at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was born on Nov. 27, 1916, in St. James, Minn. to Henry and Marie (Habel) Wacker.
Marie graduated from high school in 1934. She worked as an assistant dietician at Union Hospital in New Ulm, Minn. On July 20, 1939, Marie married Norman Wendt in New Ulm. They resided in Elgin, Ill. before moving to Rhinelander in the late ’70s. Marie was a faithful member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved time spent with her family, enjoyed crocheting and playing the organ, and Marie will be fondly remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Marie is survived by a son-in-law, Ron Henk of Appleton; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Wendt of Rhinelander; six grandchildren, Kristen, Jeremy, Matthew, and Michael Wendt, and Timothy and Troy Henk; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Norman Wendt on March 17, 1998; her daughter, Nancy Henk; her son, Steven Wendt; and 12 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8,at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Schoell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
