Obituary: Fay Smaney
Fay Smaney, 91, of Rhinelander, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at her home. She was born on June 17, 1921, in Marinette, to Lawrence and Ethel (Bell) England.
Fay moved to Iron Mountain, Mich., where she attended school. Following graduation from high school, she moved to Rhinelander where she married Walter Smaney, and together they raised their family of two daughters. Fay was a member of the First United Methodist Church and loved time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Fay is survived by her two daughters, Judith Ann (Fred) Lund and Tamara Smaney both of Rhinelander; two grandchildren, Scott and Bryanna; two great grandchildren, Devon and Amber; and a sister, Elaine Marlett of Iron Mountain, Mich. She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Walter, on Oct. 20, 1985; and three brothers, Donald, Delbert and Ted.
A memorial service for Fay will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rebecca Niese officiating.
