Obituary: John R. Kennedy
John R. Kennedy, 61, of Rhinelander, died on July 23, 2012, at his home in Rhinelander. He was born on Oct. 25, 1950, in Rhinelander, to Robert and Marion (Russell) Kennedy.
He attended schools in Rhinelander, and graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1969. John then served with the merchant marine on the Great Lakes, was a rural mail carrier and then began his lifetime career as a truck driver. He worked as a truck driver for over 40 years, traveling millions of miles. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed listening and playing music, talking on the CB radio to people all over the world and he was an avid Packer fan. John really looked forward to the yearly trip to Canada which began as Al’s Lunker Safari in the 70’s.
John is survived by his son, Robert (Kelly) Kennedy; his grandchildren, Robert Henry, Liam, Lauryn, Linnea and Bobby; his wife and lifelong friend, Cindy (Keso); his sisters, Julie (Doug) Bettinger and Judy (Tim) Sheperd; his brothers, which include his twin brother Joe (Shelbra) Kennedy, Jim (Cindy) Kennedy, Jeff Kennedy, Jay (Kathee) Kennedy and Jerome “Zeke” (Dawn) Kennedy; many many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded by his parents; and his brother, Jed.
There will be a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, July 28, from noon on, at his home at 734 Newell St.
