Letter: Republicans don’t want what’s best by Richard Laddusire
Editor:
Help me understand this issue on personal responsibility. This is a big issue.
So it seems that the Republicans don’t like Obamacare because it requires them to obtain health insurance. So? It seems these same people want to be treated when they are sick, even if they don’t have health care. Who pays?
The Republicans passed a law requiring hospitals to treat people even if they don’t have insurance. Weren’t the Republicans advocating socialized medicine, where people get medical care for nothing? The Republican Party didn’t do anything before on health care under President Bush. All talk and no action, just like with the Contract with America in balancing the budget and term limits.
So the Democrats come along and say sooner or later everyone is going to need health care, so it is only fair that everyone pays for it. Isn’t that the personal responsibility that the Republicans advocate? This goes back to the Republican plan since 2008-everything is bad if it makes the President look good, even if it is good for the country.
Well, the Supreme Court decision upholding Obamacare is good for the country, and the millions of people who don’t have insurance. People first-Support the Democratic Party.
