Downtown Rhinelander Inc.?s Sue Bessert announces resignation
Sue Bessert, who has served as the executive director of Downtown Rhinelander Inc. since 2008, has announced her intentions to resign her position effective July 15.
Bessert announced her decision to the Downtown Rhinelander Inc. Board of Directors during the oraganization’s monthly board meeting on June 27. She cited family obligations and a “need for a change” as her reasons for leaving the post.
“First I want to thank Sue for all she had done for our organization over the past four and a half years,” said Downtown Rhinelander Inc. Board President Sally Latimer. “Since she joined us in January of 2008 we have matured into a more structured and better documented organization. Sue brought the enthusiasm to be a Main street organization into the community, and helped us create systems for budget, reporting and projects.”
Latimer pointed out that, in addition to serving as a the recognizable “face” of DRI since she began, Bessert also played a large role in securing programs to generate income for the organization.
“Under Sue’s guidance, we developed two significant ‘fund generation’ events-Hodags on Parade and the Beverage Booth at the Oneida County Fair,” said Latimer. “She has also played a significant part in the recruitment of several new businesses to the downtown.”
Latimer said the DRI executive committee will meet on Monday, July 2, to determine what the organization’s next steps will be.
