Obituary: Roland R. Schmidt
Roland R. Schmidt, 72, of the Town of Woodboro, passed away June 25, 2012, at his home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was born on Oct. 8, 1939, in Rhinelander, to Elmer and Mary (Schrump) Schmidt.
Roland was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander/Woodboro. He married Beverly Luce on July 30, 1960, in Rhinelander and together they raised their family of eight children. Roland worked hard as a farmer and logger his entire life. He especially enjoyed working with his sawmill, cattle, and draft horses. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed attending steam engine shows.
Roland is survived by his wife, Beverly Schmidt of Woodboro; three daughters, Barbie (Mike) Marten of Rhinelander, Kathy (Terry) Haese of Bellevue, Neb., and Conni (John) Schade of Tomahawk; five sons, Roland “Buzz” (Terrie) Schmidt Jr., Thomas “Scoot” (Tina) Schmidt, Chip (Anne) Schmidt, Bud (Maggie) Schmidt, and Cody (Sara) Schmidt, all of Woodboro; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosemary Luce of Woodboro. He was preceded by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, at 10 a.m., at the Carlson Funeral Home, with Rev. Rebecca E. Iverson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
