Oneida County Humane Society launches ‘Pocket Change for Pets Program’
More than 100 Tootsie Roll banks were transformed into “Pocket Change for Pets” collection banks by Girl Scout Troop #7076 and are now available to pet lovers who would like an easy way to donate to the Oneida County Humane Society.
“This was a great project and we were thrilled to have the girl’s help.” said Karla Ortman, Humane Society Vice-President. “The troop leaders brought the girls from Woodruff, after school one day, to deliver the paw-print decorated banks and take a tour of the animal shelter. They were really excited to be helping homeless pets.”
The special banks can be purchased for $1 each. Place the bank on a desk or countertop at home and drop in your spare change when emptying pockets or cleaning out bags and purses. When full, bring the bank to the Rhinelander Animal Shelter at 1852 N. Stevens Street, Rhinelander, to be emptied. You keep the bank to fill again! Banks are now available at the Animal Shelter in Rhinelander and at Kim’s Cozy Cabin, Hwy 51, Hazelhurst.
