Hydrant flushing notice, June 18
The City of Rhinelander Water Utility will be flushing fire hydrants in this area on Monday, June 18:
– Hydrants on Eisenhower Parkway and North Shore Drive will be flushed first. We will continue flushing on the Highway 17 North bypass to the Menards water tower. Then we will work our way back flushing North Stevens Street, Apache Lane, Menominee Drive and Woodland Drive. Also, Timber Heights, Spring Lake Road and Pueblo Drive will be flushed.
Flushing will begin at 8 a.m. and finish around 2 p.m. Hydrants will be flushed Monday through Thursday. The system flushing started Monday, and could take up to four to six weeks.
During flushing you may experience a discoloration of the water in your home or business. Before doing any laundry or other projects, make sure the tap water is running clear.
The city flushes hydrants to clean out iron deposits in the water lines, to verify the hydrants are working properly and to assure continued high quality drinking water. The utility recommends users run the tap water for five or 10 minutes to purge their systems of sediment and minimize discoloration.

Thank you,
