Arlene Russell's letter to "Viewpoint" Nov. 18 was both impressive and depressing. While she mentions several church functions and the other traditions of the season, there is absolutely no mention whatsoever of Jesus Christ. Absolutely nothing she is so enamored about would exist if he didn't. While all those material things may be traditional and fun, if you neglect why they came into being, you are missing the point entirely.
